Sean Dyche Feeling Hopeful About Everton’s Future
Sean Dyche, manager of Everton, is feeling grateful to have clarity about the English Premier League (EPL) reducing their points deduction penalty.
The club faced a harsh 10-point deduction for breaching the EPL’s profitability and sustainability rules in the 2021/2022 season. On Monday, 26 February, the Toffees discovered that their appeal against the decision had been accepted, and the penalty had been reduced from 10 points to six.
“We’re pleased we got something back. You’re always greedy, aren’t you? Want more,” Dyche said humorously during a press conference on Thursday, 29 February. “The points the club made have obviously been listened to and we got the four points back,” he added.
While the four points may seem somewhat meagre, the move has lifted the club from 17th to 15th place on the EPL table. However, Everton aren’t out of the stormy waters just yet as they face another deduction for a further alleged breach in their accounts during their 2022/2023 campaign, which could see them sink down the ratings once again.
The tumultuous week will come to an end tomorrow, Saturday 2 March, as Everton host West Ham at Goodison Park Stadium in Liverpool, England. Predictions slightly favour the hosts.
